Hail questions
What do before, during and after mean on this page?
Before is the warning as the National Weather Service issued it, with its stated hail size. During is NOAA's radar estimate of hail size. After is the ground reports collected by the Storm Prediction Center. Each layer is official and credited to its source.
Is radar-estimated hail the same as measured hail?
No. MRMS hail size is estimated from radar, so it is labeled radar-estimated. Ground reports are the confirmation layer.
Does PerilRadar forecast hail?
No. PerilRadar reprints official warnings, radar products and reports. It does not forecast, and it never adds its own hail size.
